Six inches of snow yesterday – my picnic table sits right outside my living room window and is a testament to the amount of snow we have. It is a lot. But the world is so brilliantly white and full of sunshine today that it is absolutely beautiful. Weather cannot stop a Minnesotan because we have an abundance of it. We just change our activities – so – Let’s sew!!!
These are the 2 new Embroidery BOMs. We are only 1 week into it so if it is still something you want to do, there is plenty of time to sign up and catch up. I personally started the Among The Pines and am very excited about it. After the 1st class, there was much discussion about the colors of Sulky each person wanted to use. It is going to be so much fun to see how different each block will look with different thread choices. I am sure the Gingerbread Houses will be the same as each person interprets the design in their own way.
This one is not on the original calendar, but take a look:
The Quilt Basics class will be starting Monday, March 3 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM and will run over 7 weeks. This is an original pattern by Julie Peterson who will also be the instructor. There will be a new technique taught every week. If you are a beginner or just want to brush up on skills or you just simply like the quilt, sign up. Julie has this sample in 2 different color ways at the shop to inspire you.
How about a new tote for spring. Who doesn’t need a new one of those?
This class will be taught by Cathy Johnson on 2 Saturdays, March 8 & 15 from 10 AM – 2 PM. Just look at the fabric chosen for the sample. It screams summer – who isn’t up for that? This bag has 10 pockets and a padded pocket for your tablet (that is probably better than putting it in your purse as I have been known to do – of course, I can’t shut my purse nor is my tablet protected). Cathy is an experienced instructor and especially good at constructing bags. This one is a must.
This is a stunning quilt designed by Judy Niemeyer. You can learn to make it with Connie Chapman as your instructor on 2 Saturdays, March 15 (10 AM – 12 PM), and March 22 (10 AM – 4 PM). The 1st class will focus on fabric choices. For many of us that is the most intimidating part of quilting. Connie will be assisting in the best choices to make this quilt gorgeous. The 2nd class will focus on Judy Niemeyer’s piecing techniques. Won’t you feel like “a rock star” when you complete this one. The cost in $35.00 plus the Cabin Fever pattern.
Now quilters, no complaining about the snow, just look at what you can learn to do before spring shows up. Plus, you see spring starting to happen right outside the classroom windows.
Thought: I will continue to “plump” my brain cells by continuing to learn for the rest of my life. There is nothing like a new challenge!
We are here to serve you,
Jan & Angie
